![]() ![]() A church should honor the weekend services as a holy event where God’s people worship, experience His presence, share His Word, and surrender to His leading. The ministry is to welcome and greet visitors making them feel comfortable and loved in the house of the Lord. Ushers remind us that we are entering a set-apart place for this hour a weekin these pews, with these people, at this tableso we can meet with the Lord. The ministry will also help to acquaint visitors with the pastor, auxiliary ministries of the church, and with its facilities. The purpose of the Greeters' Ministry is to invite people into the church and to create a warm and friendly atmosphere before visitors or members enter the house of worship. In the event that an emergency occurs, the nurse-aides will offer non-medical assistance, if it is determined that medical attention is required, the nurse-aides will assist until medical professionals arrive. The duties of the nurse-aides are to assist the congregation in the event of a medical emergency. This ministry supplies a minimum of 3 nurse-aides on duty for each service. In case of an emergency, the ushers will take the lead in getting people to safety in an orderly manner. The nurse-aides serve the church each Sunday. Church ushers are well versed in emergency procedures. ![]() The service position is the left hand behind the usher’s back and his right hand straight at his right side. The greeting signal is an open right hand used to greet congregants. The Ushers alternate Sunday's for active duty: One of the 18 hand signals used by ushers in church is called the service position, which an usher takes when he enters the sanctuary. This meeting is opened with prayer, after which some phase of ushering is discussed, and a final check-up is made for the ushering in the coming service. For example, if the service begins at 11 a.m., the ushers’ meeting is from 10:30 to 10:45 a.m. Ushers serve as servants, disciplinarians, hosts/hostesses of Galilee. In some churches, the ushers meet for fifteen minutes before every worship service. The Ministry of Ushering is a personal representation of Jesus Christ, we meet people on a person-to-person basis when they first arrive at the church. The Ushers' Ministry is an extension of God’s hands to people. The purpose and function of the Ushers’ Ministry is to meet, greet and seat those attending the worship service with a loving smile as they enter the sanctuary. ![]()
